Pencoed Program Welcome Address

On behalf of Ystradgynlais RFC I would like to extend a warm welcome to the players, supporters and officials of Pencoed RFC.  Both sides today are well and truly in the promotion hunt in one of the most competitive division within Wales. Today we begin the second half of the season and will be hoping for better fortunes having lost to Pencoed on the first game in September.

The first team recorded an impressive victory before Christmas against a very good Resolven team away. It was a very committed performance with the entire match day squad contributing to win. A brace of tries from centre Curtis Davies took him to top try scoring position for the club.

The club enjoyed a very busy festive period and we would like to thank all our members and guests for the fantastic support shown. We hope to welcome you back in a few weeks’ time for the six nations, with February 11th being a highlight, Wales v England followed by music from Sunshine cab co.

It has been a very sad period at the club with recent passing away of former player Mickey Davidson. The club would like to offer its sympathy and support to Merle, John and family. The funeral took place earlier this morning and as a show of respect we will be holding a minute silence before this afternoon’s game.

In closing, the club would like to congratulate former league winning number 8 Carwyn Lawrence and his wife Sharlaine on the birth of their son Cooper Jon. I’m sure we have a very proud uncle Emyr playing second row today and two very excited grandparents Karen and John in the crowd this afternoon.  Llongyfarchiadau!
