We are proud to announce that the Ystradgynlais RFC club captain for 2016/17 will be Ioan Kemp. This will be a very popular appointment amongst both supporters and players.
Ioan has always been a determined, talented and committed player and thoroughly deserves his opportunity to lead us as a club. A club man in every sense of the word, which is no surprise given his family legacy at the club. Ioan has captained the first team on occasions in the past and was an outstanding captain of our youth team.
Another player with a strong family connection to the club Steffan Jones will be his vice-captain. The young half back certainly grew as a player last season and this will be a fantastic opportunity for him to develop further.
There have been very good numbers in training and we will be looking to again be competitive while playing our traditional attractive style of rugby.
The second team captain for the second successive Season will be Darren Lewis (Steffan’s cousin) and his deputy will again me Rhodri Hughes. Anybody interested in being part of the second team squad please contact either of the above mentioned players or Huw Thomas.
It is yet to be decided who will captain the newly formed USV Youth team.
