Builth Wells 13 Ystradgynlais 13

Ystradgynlais travelled over an hour north through Powys to face Builth Wells, the first league game in 6 weeks thanks to Christmas and the weather.

Builth have beaten Ystrad well over the last two season, showing superb organisation skills particularly in defence. Ystrad were certainly up against it with the blues travelling with only 4 recognised backs, with flankers Thomas Collins and Oliver Davies slotting on to the wings.

Never a team to shy away Ystrad certainly took the game to the home side with strong carrying performances from Rhys Wilkes, Sean Weed and Josh Griffiths.

It was a very even game with the score changing hands four times through out despite being a relatively low scoring affair.

The Ystrad points came from a Curtis Davies try and eight points from the boot of Liam Harris. It was a difficult final few minutes when Builth managed to level the score with a penalty and beak Ystrad hearts.

The jury is still out whether it’s two points gained or two points dropped, but one thing is for certain not many teams leave Builth with any points. We go again next week away at Birchgrove.
